Transfer a site

Hand ownership of a site over to another person, along with its content, bookings, and open invoices.

A site transfer moves a site out of your account and into someone else's account—for example, when you sell your business or finish building a site for a client. Only the site's Owner can start a transfer.

What moves with the site

  • Everything in the site: Its content, theme, bookings, settings, and connected domain.
  • Unpaid invoices: Any open invoices move with the site so the new owner can pay upcoming renewals. Previously paid invoices stay with the account that paid them—the new owner can view them in read-only mode, marked Paid by previous owner.
  • Founding Merchant pricing: Any Founding Merchant price reserved for the site stays attached to it.
  • Your access after transfer: Once the transfer completes, you remain on the site with the Admin role.

Before you start

The new owner must already have a Qwickraft account and be an active collaborator on the site. If they are not on the site yet, invite them as a collaborator first and wait until they accept the invite.

How to transfer a site

Start the transfer and verify your identity

Open the site, click Collaborators under Configure, and click Transfer ownership in the transfer section. Because the site will leave your account, we email you a 6-digit verification code—enter it under Verify your identity.

Select the new owner and send the request

In Transfer ownership, select the recipient under New owner, add an optional message, and click Send transfer request. The Collaborators page will now show Transfer pending along with its expiry date. You can cancel the request anytime before it is completed.

Wait for the new owner to accept

The recipient receives an email with a link to Site ownership transfer, showing the site name, who sent the request, your message, and when the request expires. They click Accept transfer (or Decline). (Accepting does not move the site until you complete Step 4.)

Confirm the final transfer

Once they have accepted, return to Collaborators and click Confirm transfer. Because handing over ownership is final, we email you one more 6-digit verification code—enter it under Confirm the transfer. The site then moves to the new owner's account immediately.

Once confirmed, you cannot undo a site transfer yourself. The only way to get ownership back is for the new owner to transfer the site back to you.
